So if you know the open chords in G, here’s another take on that concept. Just take your open G shape (the one with ring and pinky), raise it up to the 8th fret and wala, C!
- Pinky goes on the highest string.
- Third plays second highest till you get to the “G” chord.
- First and second alternate as you play different chords.
Try out each of these chords and see what you think. The only tricky part are those muted strings with the “x” at the top (the “D” sting in C). Try them first without the mute. Once you get the feel, you can try the mute.
Once you get familiar with these chords. Try taking the pinky off the highest string. One more open string to play with!
