9 Basic Steps for the Walkdown in G

Walkdown in G: First two chords, G5 and Dsus/F#Okay, today we’re going to learn the walkdown in G. Ready to work out that pinky and ring again?

1. So start with G5. Pretty easy right?

2. Now hold the same shape and move the lowest string down a fret for Dsus/F#. Yes, big name chord, but don’t let that intimidate you! Don’t worry about the long name or the theory for now, just listen with your ear.

3. Next is Em7. Muting some strings gives you a more distinct bass sound. I lightly touch the next string with my first finger where it says “x”.

4. Next you have Dsus.

5. Now play the C2. How’s that pinky? We’re halfway through!

6. Now G/B. Keep holding that ring and pinky and just move bass note with the other two fingers.

7. Am7.

8. D. Your usual D major. You’re almost through!

9. Back to G5. Resolved!
